After graduating from the Hadassah Medical School, Hebrew University, Israel, Dr. Ronny Meier completed one year of a rotating internship int he Meir General Hospital in Kfar Saba, affiliated with the Tel Aviv University Medical School. Dr. Meier then became a physician in the Israeli Defense Forces for four years, as part of a general medical practice.
In 1977, Dr. Meier moved to the US and completed his residency in in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Meier is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and completes voluntary recertification each year. In 1981, he moved his family to New Jersey, forming a private practice in Bergenfield. During the early days of the practice, he also worked part time in Montefiore Hospital and North Central Bronx Hospital and held a teaching position at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also provided gynecological consultations at nursing homes in Riverdale and in the Bronx. He spent over twenty years in solo practice, making himself available to his patients at all hours. After years in the field, Dr. Meier has begun taking care of patients whom he actually delivered!
On a personal note, Dr. Ronny Meier was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel where he met his American wife. Together, they lived in Israel for several years before returning to the US, where Dr. Meier completed his residency. He has seven children, many of whom have entered the medical filed, and one of whom even joined the practice!
Dr. Efrat Meier moved back to her hometown of Teaneck, NJ after many years of study to join her father’s practice in Bergenfield. After graduating from Barnard College, Columbia University, with a major in Biochemistry, she attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Although raised under the roof of an OBGYN who loved his career, Dr. Meier was not certain of her specialty choice until the fourth year of medical school while doing a rotation on Labor and Delivery. At this point, it became clear to her that there was no other field for her. She went on to complete a four year residency in North Shore University Hospital where she was singled out for a special leadership conference and in her chief year received the resident achievement award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgery. Dr. Meier then joined her father’s practice in NJ in 2003.
Dr. Meier has received the Best Reader’s Choice Award in the Jewish Standard for two years in a row in 2012 and 2013. She has given numerous talks for the community about gynecological care. Dr. Meier feels very fulfilled in this specialty and feels grateful to have a full family life as well. She lives in Teaneck with her husband and four children.
